PETER WEST Lighting Design Peter West was born in Heswall, England and grew up in Blacksburg, Virginia. He graduated from Guilford College with Bachelor of Science in Drama and Speech and completed graduate training at the American Repertory Theatre Institute at Harvard. Peter Dubois), The Country Wife,The Rivals and Lady Windemere's Fan (all dir. Keith Baxter) at the Shakespeare Theatre, Black Sheep at Barrington Stage Company, (dir. Daniel Fish), Side Man at A Contemporary Theatre (dir. Mladen Kiselov), Loves Labor's Lost (dir. Daniel Fish) Cymbeline (dir. Danny Scheie) and Macbeth (dir. Michael Donald Edwards) at Shakespeare Santa Cruz where he spent two seasons. Other credits include Pittsburgh Public, ART, Geva, Cleveland Playhouse and,the McCarter Theatre. He has also designed many show for Playmakers Rep in Chapel Hill, NC. Peter designed the NETworks tour of Kiss of the Spiderwoman in both America and Japan. Other international credits include designs at the Teatro Filharmonico in Verona, Italy, at the Artsphere Theater in Tokyo, and with Endemol Productions in the Netherlands. He has toured throughout Europe, South America and Asia as the Lighting Director of the White Oak Dance Project. He is proud to have collaborated with the dancers and choreographers Amy Spencer and Richard Colton on a variety of projects over the last fifteen years. He has also maintained long standing relationships with The Shakespeare Theater, Playmakers, The Juilliard School, Nina Winthrop and Dancers, Red Bull Theater Company, Edisa Weeks and Williams College where he was a Guest Lecturer in Lighting Design for the Spring of 2008. Peter lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn with his wife Kathy Hood, Administrative Director of the Juilliard Drama Division. He loves her, cooking, the Yankees, and music of all styles. |
